Dartmouth MRI Study to Learn About Schizophrenia and the Brain

We are looking for adults with schizophrenia for an MRI study. Our study is trying to learn how the brain works when a person gets a reward. This would be helpful in understanding many things about people with schizophrenia.

We need people who:

  • are between the ages of 18 and 55; and
  • have schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder.

If you choose to take part in the study, it will last about 3-4 weeks and involve:

  • going to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center (DHMC) in Lebanon 4 times over a period of 3-4 weeks;
  • having your head scanned in an MRI scanner on two of these visits to DHMC;
  • brief phone check-ins with study staff once a week;
  • not using drugs or alcohol while in the study.

The study can provide a ride for study visits if needed. All information gathered for the study is kept confidential. You will also be paid for your help. If you wish to take part in our study, please call 1-877-491-4451 or click here to learn more.

Dartmouth MRI Study to Learn About Schizophrenia and Marijuana Use

Many people who have schizophrenia also smoke marijuana. The goal of our research is to find out why this happens. If we can find out why, then perhaps we can find a way to reduce the urge to use marijuana. If you have schizophrenia and smoke marijuana, we hope you will help us in this important study.
