Description:

Applications are invited for a PhD student position at the Department of Cognitive and Systems Neuroscience, SILS Center for Neuroscience, University of Amsterdam. Working in a multidisciplinary team led by Prof.Dr. Cyriel Pennartz, the PhD candidate will investigate how ensemble activity is coordinated across several sensory areas to integrate complex multi-sensory stimulation and how top-down attentional processes modulate these interactions (e.g., Bosman et al., 2012). High-density recordings will be made from multiple brain structures simultaneously, also in combination with stimulation techniques.

Requirements:

Candidates are required to hold a Master degree in Neuroscience, Biophysics or Cognitive Neurobiology. Experience in experimental neurophysiology and animal behavior is mandatory. Experience in computer programming, computational modeling and neural data analysis will be considered an advantage. Appointment will be for a total of 4 years.
