Job Title: Neuroscience Postdoctoral Positions

Description:

Neuroscience postdoctoral positions to study basic mechanisms of sleep and schizophrenia are available at Harvard Medical School and the VA Boston Healthcare System. Applications are invited for postdoctoral fellowships in the Laboratory of Neuroscience at Harvard Medical School (Head: Robert W. McCarley) located at the Brockton and West Roxbury VAMC. Openings exist in the following sections of the Laboratory: the molecular section (Radhika Basheer) and the in vivo section (Robert E. Strecker). These sections collaborate on multidisciplinary projects investigating the subcortical control of cortical activity and behavior using optogenetics to alter sleep and wakefulness, and schizophrenia.

Requirements:

Experience/interest in optogenetics, behavioral analysis, or the consequence of sleep deficiency/loss is preferred. Training opportunities also exist in the following areas: EEG; single unit electrophysiology, microdialysis/HPLC, in vitro electrophysiology, energy metabolism, receptor autoradiography, and other molecular/biochemical/neuroanatomical/pharmacological techniques. Position pays NIH stipend or better. HMS is an EOE.
