Job Title: Postdoctoral Position in Cognitive Neuroscience
Employer: Hoffmann-La Roche, Basel, Switzerland
Description:

Roche is committed to invest into innovative healthcare solutions in disorders of the central nervous system. In order to expand and strengthen our preclinical research efforts in Cognitive Neuroscience we are looking for a dedicated PhD level scientist to join our team in Translational Medicine within CNS Research and Early Development as postdoctoral fellow. The position foresees a two-year funding.

We are looking for a postdoctoral scientist to investigate drug effects on cognition. The research will involve building a database of drug effects on cognitive test performance from preclinic to clinic, as collected in research and development projects with existing drugs as well as novel compounds. The resultant database will consist of systematically collected cognitive performance profiles of healthy subjects as well as patients participating in pharmaceutical clinical research. The postdoc will be expected to use this database to understand the roles of neurotransmitters and neuromodulators in cognition, using computational modeling and other techniques. This project will be based at Hoffmann-La Roche Basel, but requires intensive collaboration with the Department of Cognitive Psychology at the Free University of Amsterdam. It also involves significant collaboration with Cambridge Cognition Ltd. and Cambridge University, Cambridge, UK.

Requirements:

You have a Ph.D. in Cognitive Neuroscience with an emphasis on Cognitive Informatics, e.g., Neural Networks, Modeling and/or Database Programming. A strong quantitative background including expertise with MATLAB, NONMEM, NEURON or S-PLUS, R is a plus. Likewise experience with classic clinical as well as computerized neuropsychological testing (e.g., CANTAB) and with statistical analysis programs (e.g., SAS) are also a plus.

Contact:

Your application to Michael Steininger should include a statement of research interests, a CV (including list of publications), and contact information for three references.
